John Kim is a Co-founder and Managing Partner of HighBar Partners. Prior to HighBar, Mr. Kim was with W Capital Partners, a private equity fund with over $1 billion under management that makes and acquires direct investments in growth equity technology companies. Mr. Kim joined as the firm’s first employee in 2003. During his time at W Capital, Mr. Kim invested in special situations and secondary direct acquisitions from corporations, financial institutions and general partnerships.

Prior to W Capital, Mr. Kim was Director of Corporate Development at Zeborg (acquired by Emptoris), a venture-backed enterprise software company spun off from The Mitchell Madison Group, where he focused on operations and corporate strategy. He was also Director of Investments at ISL Management, a venture capital firm funded by JPMorgan dedicated to early stage software and financial service investments.

Prior thereto, Mr. Kim was an investment banker with JPMorgan Chase (and its predecessors) and Robertson Stephens, where he worked on complex M&A and leveraged finance transactions across sectors including technology, financial services, healthcare and industrials.

Mr. Kim holds a BS in Economics from The University of Chicago and an MBA, with Honors, from Columbia Business School.

Roy Thiele-Sardiña is a Co-founder and Partner of HighBar Partners. Over the last 25 years, he has founded, invested in and held senior management positions at numerous prominent companies in the technology industry.

Prior to HighBar, Mr. Thiele-Sardiña was a Managing Director with Steelpoint Capital (the private equity subsidiary of Moore Capital Management), an operationally-intensive active investor. At Steelpoint, he crafted the firm’s technology investing strategy and led the firm’s efforts in the storage and security sub-sectors. Prior to Steelpoint, Mr. Thiele-Sardiña was an Executive-In-Residence at the Mayfield Fund.

In the mid-90s, Mr. Thiele-Sardiña channeled his investments through HighBAR Ventures, an investment vehicle that he solely managed. Through this investment vehicle, he co-founded and held key management positions at Ingrian Networks (acquired by SafeNet), a leading data privacy provider, Tasmania Networks (acquired by Cisco), a cache proxy company and Brocade Communications Systems (Nasdaq: BRCD), a fibre channel switch company. As the CEO of Ingrian and Tasmania, Roy was principally responsible for hiring management and developing the companies’ product strategies. As the VP of Sales and Business Development at Brocade, Roy managed the company’s channel strategy and negotiated all of Brocade’s OEM agreements.

Prior to Brocade, Mr. Thiele-Sardiña worked at Sun Microsystems for 11 years. At Sun, he created the company’s telecommunications business and grew it to 10% of Sun’s worldwide revenue. He also led Sun’s international (Asia, Japan, Latin America and EMEA) Sales and Business Development teams. Under Mr. Thiele-Sardiña’s leadership, Sun’s international business grew from $180mm to $1.9bn in less than three years. As a member of Sun’s leadership team, while serving the Office of the Chairman, he was responsible for the company’s Corporate Development effort.

Mr. Thiele-Sardiña holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.

Chris Kitching joined HighBar Partners from Sound United and its holding company DEI Holdings, where he served as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to DEI, Mr. Kitching was Chief Financial Officer of ClariPhy Communications, Inc., a communications integrated circuit company based in Irvine, CA.

Mr. Kitching has also worked in the venture capital industry and served on many boards of portfolio companies in the information technology space. He began his career as an integrated circuit design engineer and developed products for Ethernet and power management applications.

Mr. Kitching holds both a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, Phi Beta Kappa, from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Brian Peters joined HighBar Partners from Barclays Capital, where he was an investment banker in the Technology, Media and Telecom group. In that role, he provided companies and financial sponsors with strategic advisory services and assisted them with their capital market needs. Mr. Peters completed more than 20 transactions, raising over $1 billion in capital through equity, debt and hybrid security offerings. Notable advisory mandates included assisting Cisco Systems in the sale of its home networking business unit (“Linksys”) to Belkin International and advising Entropic Communications in its acquisition of Trident Microsystems’ set-top box business unit.

Prior to joining Barclays, Mr. Peters was an Analyst at Rosemount Capital Management, a hedge fund backed by Merrill Lynch, which focused on direct trade-related credit investments in corporate and financial institutions in more developed emerging markets. During his time at Rosemount, Mr. Peters originated, structured, syndicated and traded a diversified portfolio of Latin American trade finance debt obligations.

Prior to his finance career, Mr. Peters was a software developer for Nextel Telecomunicações Ltda. and Evertec, Inc. where he developed .NET web services across sectors including telecom, government, education and financial services.

Mr. Peters holds a BSE in Computer Engineering, with Honors, from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Jayson Yuan is a Managing Director at HighBar Partners.  Prior to HighBar, Mr. Yuan was Chief Financial Officer at Wishlife, an enterprise software company in the financial technology sector.  He led the finance, sales, and corporate development organizations in all phases of operations from setting shared strategic vision to day-to-day execution. 

Prior to Wishlife, Mr. Yuan was the Head of the Family of Funds operation at CircleUp, a technology-driven investment marketplace that facilitates direct equity investments from individual investors into private consumer and retail companies.  As Managing Director, Mr. Yuan led all principal investing activities for the Company where he created CircleUp's overall fund strategy, raising and managing the Company's first $22M+ fund focused on early-stage, high-growth businesses.  He also established strategic partnerships and contributed to product development.

Prior to CircleUp, Mr. Yuan was a Principal at Francisco Partners, a leading technology focused private equity fund with over $14 billion in capital under management.  At FP, Mr. Yuan spent his time sourcing, identifying, evaluating, and executing investments across a variety of technology sectors including software, hardware, semiconductors, services, and Internet.  He is skilled in both domestic and international investing experience, having executed transactions in the US, Europe, and Israel.  While at FP, Mr. Yuan served on several boards and was actively involved with FP’s investments in Attachmate (merged with Micro Focus), Barracuda Networks (IPO), FrontRange, RedPrairie (sold to New Mountain Capital), Attenti (sold to 3M), and FXSolutions (merged with CityIndex).

Prior to joining FP, Mr. Yuan consulted for McKinsey & Company in a variety of industries such as technology, hospitality & gaming, and non-profits. Previously, Mr. Yuan was an entrepreneur early in his career as an early founder and lead product development manager at OverX, a distributed storage management software company.

Mr. Yuan has a MS degree in Management Science and Engineering and BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University where he was selected as a Mayfield Fellow.

Jonathan Busch joined HighBar Partners from TA Associates, a growth-focused private equity firm with $18 billion cumulative capital raised, where he was an Associate in the Technology Group. At TA, Mr. Busch led investment origination, transaction execution and portfolio management in the software vertical, evaluating and executing minority and majority growth recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts and take-private transactions. In that role, Mr. Busch completed two new platform investments in addition to several add-on acquisitions, divestitures and debt financings.

Prior to TA, Mr. Busch was an Analyst in the Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking group at Credit Suisse. In that role, Mr. Busch analyzed and advised on M&A assignments for a range of corporate clients and financial sponsors across the software, semiconductor, IT services and financial technology verticals. In addition, Mr. Busch completed IPOs and debt financings totaling more than $570 million in capital raised.

Mr. Busch holds an AB in Economics, cum laude, from Harvard University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar.

Olga Dorosh joined HighBar Partners from Netflix, where she worked in Financial Planning & Analysis, collaborating with the payments cross-functional team on various payment initiatives and helped launch and support local payments in Latin America markets.

Prior to Netflix, Ms. Dorosh worked at JMI Equity, a growth equity firm with $3 billion of capital raised since inception, focused on investing in software and technology-enabled services. At JMI, Ms. Dorosh was responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio management for minority and majority growth investments. Before joining JMI, Ms. Dorosh was an investment banking analyst in the Technology group at Barclays, where she worked on a wide range of financing and M&A transactions across technology verticals.

Ms. Dorosh holds a B.S. in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Accounting, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University.

Aravind Maran joined HighBar Partners from Serent Capital, a growth-focused private equity firm with over $1 billion under management, where he was an Associate. At Serent, Mr. Maran was responsible for investment origination, transaction diligence and portfolio management, with a focus on enterprise software and tech-enabled service businesses.

Prior to Serent, Mr. Maran was a management consultant at Bain & Company. At Bain, Mr. Maran advised private equity funds and businesses across a variety of industries on topics including evaluation of investment opportunities, growth strategy and operations. 

Mr. Maran holds a B.A. in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics, magna cum laude, from Northwestern University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Brian Kriebel joined HighBar Partners from SNH Capital Partners where he led capital raising and business development. Prior to SNH, Mr. Kriebel was a Principal at Blackstone where he was involved in raising capital for its private investment funds and co-investment activities.

Prior to Blackstone, Mr. Kriebel was a Director at Deutsche Bank where he was involved in identifying and executing growth, strategic and turnaround opportunities within operating segments across key markets including the European Union, Switzerland, Japan, and the United States.

Mr. Kriebel has an AB in History from Georgetown University and an MBA from The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.
